Wow, it's has been a long time since I posted anything of substance. Part of the reason for that is the reason for this post. I've been taking classes. This past Fall Semester, I took a 3D Design class. It was hard, and sometimes painful, but a lot of fun. We used different materials, such as wire, masking tape, and paper, to make 3 dimensional pieces of art.

I thought I'd share some of the things I made with everyone. I left a bunch of my earlier stuff out because, frankly, it sucked. Wire was not my friend. LOL

Our first major assignment was to make designs inside of 3D geometric shapes, such as squares and spheres. I've included two of the best ones, both spheres. The rest were kinda crap.

The next assignment was to create toys out of wire. We had to make 3: one from the past, one from the present, and one from to future. I've included here the past and future ones.

(Past) Etch-A-Sketch

(Future) Sailboat

The next one was a lot of fun. We had to duplicate a shoe using only masking tape. The funny thing about this is that the original shoe is too small for me, but the one I made out of tape fits.

Next, we had to combine wire and masking tape and make a building of some sort. I chose to make a house, but it's not any ordinary house. Welcome to my PacMan House.

I think this next project was my favorite. Our assignment was to make something from a movie using paper. We were given several large pieces of card stock and the only other things we could use were tape, glue, and whatever we were cutting the paper with. See if you can guess what movie this is from.

Along with that project, we had to make a composite design using only 3 cubes, 3 spheres, and 3 pyramids. Here is my finished design.

And finally, for our final project we were to make anything we wanted out of anything we wanted. I decided to stick with stuff that I had success with during the semester and stuff with only using wire and masking tape. I found some colored masking tape, and so my Mardi Gras Treble Clef was born.

Well, that's everything (the good stuff at least)! I still have some finishing touches to put on Mjolnir, and I'm seriously thinking of giving the Treble Clef to my mom for Christmas.

I was amazed at what could be done with masking tape. I really surprised myself with that shoe. I could see possibly making more things out of it just for fun.

Very cool! My favorites are the first sphere, the etch-a-sketch, the 3-shape composite, and -- of course -- the moccasin.

Great likeness with Thor's Hammer, too! It's hard to tell from the pictures -- did you cut out the text, or is it debossed?

Thanks!! :)

I cut the words out of a piece of paper, and glued it onto the side of the hammer. Same with the other side.

The hammer is particularly nice. I'm terrible with 3D myself.

Thank you! It was hard and sometimes frustrating, but I was so happy when it was finally done.
