I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all, the more trivial and fascinating, the better. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they enjoy eating brownie batter while watching old disco movies."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

There are three pairs of shoes in the front passenger side of my car right now. I know they are all related to gym-going activities, but I can't figure out how I got quite so many pairs built up.

When I was quite small, one of my brothers told me about the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, but I thought it was a true story. I spent quite a lot of my childhood attempting to fly, including one memorable day when I jumped off the roof with garbage bags taped to my arms. (Fortunately, it was the lowest point of the roof, over the garage, so I avoided broken bones.) Unsurprisingly, I still frequently dream about flying.

I suppose I could tell you why I friended you - I, too, am a flute player. Started in fourth grade, played all the way through college. Only picked it up once since then, though. :-)

Oh dear? Something about me? I love baking and watching television. My first fandom was teenage mutant ninja turtles! Oh, and I attended McKay High School.

Hmmmm... lemme see. Something you don't already know.

I'm a sucker for coca-cola even though I'm not supposed to drink it. (which would account for the beginnings of a migraine I'm currently fighting off.)

I won't eat lasagna in most restaurants because I don't think they make it right. (More cheese, less sauce people!)

I've gained and then subsequently lost nearly 70 pounds 2 times in my life (working on the third round).

I'm a fainter. My blood, your blood, just hearing about blood. Needles, likewise. I passed out at work while watching a film about AIDs!

Firefly was my first fandom. I was 32.

(damn, I hope I did the math right, time passes in such a blur...)

My favourite Christmas memory is the year I was still living at home and I got a new blanket, a box of candy canes, and the remastered Star Wars set on vhs. I stayed up all Christmas night after everyone had went to bed wrapped up in my new blanket eating candy canes and watched all three movies back to back with big headphones on so as not to disturb anyone. It was an awesome night.

I can play a descant recorder and sight read music for it, though it helps if I know what it's supposed to sound like.

The first fandom I went to a convention for was Doctor Who. I think I was 14 or 15. My first fic fandom was The Man from U.N.C.L.E. when I was 16. My first online fandom was Due South when I was 28.

I also like milk in my root beer.

I love John Wayne movies, still think the scariest horror movies star Vincent Price and I played flute in 5th grade but didn't have the knack (short, fat fingers). I listen to all sorts of music, I am a bit of a music whore, but I prefer classical music (even though I never remember the names, outside of the few obvious).
