Vampire books - have you come across the Blood series by Tanya Huff ([livejournal.com profile] andpuff)?

A actual adult female main character, a truly cool vampire and an real Canadian setting, rather than Vancouver passing itself off as US city of the week.

(And the sequel Smoke series has a wonderfully slashy m/m romance, as well as lots of insider poking at the silly things that fans do. :-D)

I think they are definitely worth checking out, though obviously I can't swear you'll like them.

The first one is Blood Price, and there are four others in the Blood series.
