This week I'm reading: Embedded by Dan Abnett

My favorite book of all time: I have no idea. How would I even judge such a thing? How could I even pick one favorite book from a single series? (I read a lot of series books.)

My current favorite book (read or re-read in the last 3 months): The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels by Janice Hallett

The last book I bought: Platform Decay by Martha Wells

The first book I bought with my own money: No clue. The first book I remember buying with my own money was a novelization of the Battlestar Galactica episode "The Gun on Ice Planet Zero" (The Cylon Death Machine by Glen A. Larson and Robert Thurston), which I still have, but I was 12, so I can't swear that it was actually the first.

The first book I received as a gift: I would've been too young to remember. But my favorite picture book when I was little was Whose Mouse Are You? by Robert Kraus.

The last book I received as a gift: Run Wild: Sa Ye (Novel) Vol. 1 by Wu Zhe

The last book I borrowed from the library: Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger (Yes, I know, I'm very late to the party)

The book physically closest to me right now: Mac OS X Leopard Edition by David Pogue (which can probably go because my Macbook died years ago and I no longer have any Apple devices or any desire to obtain any)

This or That

Physical book, e-book, or audio: Why choose? In general, I prefer instructional books like cookbooks in print form. Other than that, I prefer ebooks if I'm going to be reading it myself because my aging eyes appreciate being able to adjust the font and font size to something comfortable for me to read, and I like audiobooks to listen to on my commute.

Used, new, or fell off the back of the internet: All of the above, I guess? Depends on what "fell off the back of the internet" means. If it means "fan fiction", then yes, absolutely. If it means "pirated", then no, I will make sure authors get my money.

Fiction or non-fiction: Both. I tend to lean towards fiction on ebook and nonfiction on audiobook, but there are exceptions. I think every T. Kingfisher book I've ever read has been on audiobook, as have all the Penric & Desdemona books by Lois McMaster Bujold.

Read at a coffee shop or at the park: Neither. There aren't really any parks near me suitable for sitting and reading (they're pretty much just walking and biking trails--no place to sit) and I'm not a coffee or tea drinker. I think the only time I've ever set foot in a coffee shop in my entire life was at the airport because it was the only thing open in my terminal.

Paperback or hardcover: No real preference, but I do have a minimalist bookcase specifically made to hold mass market paperbacks that a friend built for me after he inherited some woodworking tools.

Romance or Crime: I mean, I like my M/M romance novels to have an action adventure bent, so technically both, but I also like mysteries on their own more than I like traditional romance.

star trek: tos. some of my earliest memories is watching it on tv.

3. Do you have any favorite headcanons or fan theories?
one of mine; vulcans are more likely to conceive a child during pon farr*. probably because of some hormonal thing.

4. Have you ever created fanworks?
just on the old 5 things stargate LJ & the 3-sentence fic-a-thon every year.

5. Are you still active in any old fandoms?
not really. just when something comes up during the 3-sentence fic-a-thon.

*they mate at other times too. when it seems "logical" to do so. mostly to try to conceive. but also to strengthen the bond with their spouse.

There is a color version of this card, but it's a shade of pink that is going to clash wildly with the covers of all my books, so I grabbed the black and white option instead.
