As some of you know, I started teaching elementary music at a couple of schools where I live. Well, our first day back from Christmas break was a teacher in-service day. Well, the music teacher in-service just happened to be at the elementary school that I went to and that my mom used to teach at. I decide to look around and see how much it had changed since the '80s when I was there.

A little more background first. My mom used to work in the office there, before she became a full teacher. Well, I had painted 2 paintings in art class that she decided to frame and put up on the walls above her desk. When she got her own classroom, she took one with her, and left the other one down in the office. Well, she retired about 7 years ago, and took that one with her, but the one in the office, she couldn't get to, so it stayed there.

Fast forward to the present. I was walking down the hall and just happened to look up, and there it was. It was hanging in the hallway outside the office. So, when I got my next break, I went in and asked if I could have it, and they let me. So, I now have both paintings.

I took pictures of both of them so I could show y'all.

This one I painted in Kindergarten. It's the one my mom took with her when she retired.

This one I painted in either 1st or 2nd grade (can't remember which). It won an award at the local arts festival. It's the one that I grabbed other day.

I wish I knew where some of my other artwork was. I used to be quite the artist. I guess I still am, I've just developed this annoying perfectionist streak which causes me to hate everything I draw!! For the time being, I'll stick with Photoshop.
