James Bond seemed perfect.

Casino Royale was published in England in April 1953, and in the US a year later. The book was a critical success, but sales were disappointing. Luckily for Fleming, he took a two-month vacation in Jamaica every year, and in each of the next several years he wrote a new Bond novel during his vacation, including Live and Let Die (1954), Moonraker (1955), and Diamonds are Forever (1956).
